Crossing the Rainbow Bridge

Our Beloved Gracie lost her battle yesterday with cancer, we are heart broken and miss her so much. But, she is in a much better place and is no longer suffering.
Gracie was a loving and faithful companion and we were so Blessed to have her in our lives, she was loved.
Rest in  Peace our Beautiful Girl and tell your Sister Toni she is still missed as well.

Our Beautiful Amazing Grace

This is our Amazing Grace, I took this picture this morning. We were outside and I was throwing the Frisbee to Gracie's Doxie Sister Heidi. Gracie has Cancer so she can no longer run and play like she use too. But, she wanted the Frisbee and promptly took it from Heidi, Heidi was not happy but as you can see from this photo Gracie sure is. That face is just so very sweet.

We found out 3 weeks ago that our old girl (almost 11) has an inoperable tumor under her bladder, it is 4-7 cm in size. It presses on a nerve to her right leg so she has quite a limp. We thought she was limping because of the pain from her advanced Hip Dysplasia and Osteoarthritis. But, no it is from the tumor.

Gracie still has so much life left in her, you can see it in her smile, the love and worship in her eyes when she looks at me, the wag of her tail, and the way she eats. She still eats like a horse, all of these are good signs.

They gave Gracie 3 months to live and I tell you it broke our hearts. She has had a long and happy life and is so loved but I do not believe it is her time. She still has a good quality of life and the pain is minimal and take care of with pain meds as needed. So, the only option we had for her was Chemo Therapy with a diuretic and Chinese Herb called Yunnan Baiyao. The Chinese Herb is to hopefully to keep her from bleeding as her tumor is so near to blood vessels. The hope is that it will shrink her tumor and give her a year to a year and a half. They have seen wonderful results with this therapy in other pets. So, I pray that it will shrink Gracie's tumor and give her the extra time.

Tomorrow she will have been on the Chemo Therapy for 2 weeks so our vet Dr. Lisa Berg will take her blood work tomorrow. We pray that her white blood count is normal and we will continue with the Chemo. If the white blood count is not right we will have to stop the Chemo. So, I am praying that her count will be good and we do not have to take anymore blood work for a month. So, please keep our girl in your prayers.

We got Gracie almost 11 years ago when she was just 12 weeks old. At that time we had an 11 year old rescue dog name Toni Girl who had Cushing Disease and they gave her less than a month to live. Well, the vet said that sometimes if you bring another dog into the home that it sometimes helps the other dog. Little did I know she wanted us to get another dog because she knew when I lost my Toni Girl it would break my heart and another dog would help to ease my pain. To our amazement Toni Girl lived 5 more years and fooled us all, Gracie was exactly what our old girl needed, this old girl too. So, that is why Gracies AKC name is Amazing Grace of the Twilight, as she is Amazing and she brought life to our beautiful, loving rescue dog Toni Girl. Toni Girl will be gone 6 years December 4th and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of her as she like Gracie has brought so much to our lives.

They say that everytime you lose a pet they take a piece of your heart with them, but with every new pet you get a little piece back. And, I believe that with all my heart, I can not imagine life with out our dogs we have had over the years.

Gracie has 3 doxie sisters now, Heidi who we got 3 months after we lost our Toni Girl as Gracie was still grieving as was I and we needed another companion. Heidi will be 6 in January and loves her Gracie. We also have Heidi's pups Bella and Holly who were 3 in October. So, Gracie is very loved and is kept active by her 3 sisters. Oh yes we also have an 8 year old Canary name Golden, so we have quite a house full.

So, that is Gracie's story, we thank God every single day for bringing this beautiful, sweet and loving Golden into our lives. And, we pray that she will be with us for a while long.

October FGOTM on Mary Janes Farm

Wow! Where did September go? October already and Fall is here. I am not good with words so please bear with me.
First, thank you so much Marcy for choosing me for September FGOTM, it was such an honor and everyone made me feel so special.

What is a Farmgirl?

A "farmgirl" to me represents Attitude/Heart/Mind. She has Kindness, caring, sharing, sense of humor, integrity, love, all this and so much more.

For all of these reasons (and more) I choose Marilyn Raber (mountainmama) as our October FGOTM. Not only is Marilyn my friend but she is My Sister of My Heart, and she is so special to me. She has always been there for me and always will be, she loves me no matter what, she is a True Blue Farmgirl.

Enjoy your month Marilyn and thank you for all you are to me and many others.

Don't forget about my drawing everyone I will pick a name on Oct. 15th.
